NHL Preseason - Monday 9/27/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 09/26/2022 at 8:26 PM ET

Pre Season NHL action rolls on Tuesday with 11 games across the board. With 11 games on the day this is one of the busier days of the Pre Season thus far as several teams will take the ice for the first time. Several rivalry matchups and face offs of elite teams will take place throughout the day.

Detroit Red Wings at Pittsburgh Penguins

The Detroit Red Wings will open their preseason campaign Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Detroit will again be a good team this year but many of their key guys will be limited in this game. Pittsburgh will come into their third game of the preseason and will look to build off things as they have already picked up a win. Pittsburgh will have the advantage as they have already played a few games and will again be in front of their home crowd.

Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins

Philadelphia Flyers at Buffalo Sabres

The Philadelphia Flyers take a road trip on Tuesday to Buffalo to take on the Buffalo Sabres. Both teams come into this game undefeated at 1-0 and will look to continue their success. Buffalo will have the advantage as neither team will play many of their main guys the Sabres will rely on the home crowd to get their second win

Pick: Buffalo Sabres

New York Islanders at New Jersey Devils

This will be the first game of the preseason for both teams as each team will look to build off last season. New York had the much better season of these two teams and will pick up where they left off last year. Look for the Islanders to control this game throughout as they get their first win of the preseason over a mediocre New Jersey team.

Pick: New York Islanders

New York Rangers at Boston Brewers

This will be the first game of the preseason for the New York Rangers as Boston has already played and lost one game. Neither team will see much action from their key players as each will rely on backups and young guys. Boston having played one game already will have the advantage and will do enough in front of their home fans to get their first win of the preseason.

Pick: Boston Bruins

Tampa Bay Lightning at Carolina Hurricanes

This is probably the best matchup of the day on Tuesday as each of these teams has Stanley Cup aspirations this season. Both teams will sit and rest key guys, but this will still be a back and forth affair with lots of meaning. Carolina will do enough to overwhelm Tampa Bay and open the preseason with a home victory.

Pick: Carolina Hurricanes

Ottawa Senators at Winnipeg Jets

Both teams have at least one game under their belt coming into Tuesday and will look to continue to iron out the details. Ottawa has won one and last one game, while Winnipeg has yet to find the win column. Winnipeg was the better team last season and will look to build off that success Tuesday night in front of their home crowd as they get their first win of the preseason.

Pick: Winnipeg Jets

Arizona Coyotes at Dallas Stars

The Arizona Coyotes have played two games already this preseason and continue their struggles from a year ago. Arizona was one of the worst teams in all of hockey last year and will continue that trend on Tuesday. Dallas played well all last season and will open the preseason Tuesday night at home with a victory.

Pick: Dallas Stars

Minnesota Wild at Colorado Avalanche

This is another high profile mashup Tuesday night between two teams that found lots of success a year ago. Both teams are undefeated thus far this year even though Colorado has a tie. Minnesota will do enough Tuesday night to set the tone heading into the year with a huge win on the road.

Pick: Minnesota Wild

Calgary Flames at Seattle Kraken

Calgary is rolling through the preseason undefeated at 2-0 and will continue their tear against a young Seattle team. Calgary will control this game from the opening faceoff as Seattle has yet to find their way in the NHL. Take Calgary to improve Tuesday night to 3-0 with a road win.

Pick: Calgary Flames

Anaheim Ducks at San Jose Sharks

This is somewhat of a rivalry game as each team will play to win. Even with both teams playing hard neither team will see much action from key players giving San Jose a huge edge. Take San Jose to pick up their second win of the year Tuesday night at home.

Pick: San Jose Sharks
