Winnipeg opens its regular season at home on Friday when hosting the New York Rangers. During the preseason, Winnipeg was 4-2. Last season the Jets finished 39-32-11 with 89 points but missed the postseason. During the offseason, Winnipeg lost Eric Comrie, Zach Sanford and Paul Stastny. The Jets added players Kyle Capobianco, Sam Gagner and David Rittich.
The leading goal scorer returning from last season for Winnipeg is left winger Kyle Connor, who scored 47 and Connor was also the leader in assists with 46 to end the season with a team-high 93 points. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck finished last season 29-27-10 with a goals-against average of 2.97 and save percentage of .910.
