New York Rangers at Winnipeg Jets 10/14/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The New York Rangers look for their second consecutive victory to open the NHL regular season when visiting the Winnipeg Jets on Friday. New York defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 on Tuesday in their opening game of the season. Mika Zibanejad scored a pair of goals for the Rangers in the victory. Barclay Goodrow scored a goal for New York in Tuesday's win. Igor Shesterkin made 26 saves in goal for the Rangers.

After just one game of the regular season, Mika ZIbanejad is the leader in goals with two and points with two.  Barclay Goodrow is the only other goal scorer for New York with one. Jacob Trouba, Chris Kreider and four others each have one assist to lead New York. In goal, Igor shesterkin is 1-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.01 and a save percentage of .962.

Winnipeg opens its regular season at home on Friday when hosting the New York Rangers. During the preseason, Winnipeg was 4-2. Last season the Jets finished 39-32-11 with 89 points but missed the postseason. During the offseason, Winnipeg lost Eric Comrie, Zach Sanford and Paul Stastny. The Jets added players Kyle Capobianco, Sam Gagner and David Rittich.

The leading goal scorer returning from last season for Winnipeg is left winger Kyle Connor, who scored 47 and Connor was also the leader in assists with 46 to end the season with a team-high 93 points. Mark Scheifele was second in points with 70, scoring 29 goals and adding 41 assists. Pierre-Luc Dubois was third in scoring but it is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck finished last season 29-27-10 with a goals-against average of 2.97 and save percentage of .910.

New York will spoil Winnipeg's opening night at home on Friday with a victory, but the play here is UNDER. The UNDER has cashed in four of the last five played between the Rangers and the Jets in Winnipeg. The UNDER has cashed in five of Winnipeg's last six overall as well as in each of New York's last five. New York has defending Vezina Trophy winner Igor Shesterkin in goal and the Rangers netminder gave up just on goal in the season opener. Final Score Prediction, New York Rangers win but our best play is UNDER 4-1.
