New York Islanders at Tampa Bay Lightning 6/21/21 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Stanley Cup semifinals return to Tampa Bay Monday night for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference series. The series is tied at two games apiece after the New York Islanders won game four 3-2. Semyon Varlamov led the way for New York in game 4 posting a .933% save rating, while stopping 28 of the 30 shots on goal.

The New York offense exploded scoring all three goals of game four in the second period. Cal Clutterbuck and Adam Pelech chipped in for the New York offense posting two assists each. Josh Bailey, Mathew Barzal, and Matt Martin all found the net scoring one goal each.

Tampa Bay's offense faltered in game 4 scoring only two goals after averaging three goals per game in game two and game three. Tampa Bay was held scoreless through the first two periods of the game before Brayden Point and Tyler Johnson found the net in the third with one goal each.

The Tampa Bay defense was strong in the first and third periods but lost the game with a three spot in the second. Andrei Vasilvsky struggled in this game allowing three goals on 30 shots for a .900% save rating.

Both teams have played great in this series and that trend will continue throughout. Look for both offenses to finally have that break out game here as both teams know each other well. This game will turn into a shoot out and blow over this low number. Final Score Prediction, Tampa Bay wins but the play is the OVER 4-3.
