The Islanders are coming into the playoffs here as the 4th seed in the East Division. That does not bode well for the Islanders who are coming in to face a Penguins team that dominated the regular season series. Not to mention, the Penguins looked quite a bit better on the offensive side of the puck when facing the Islanders all season long.

The Penguins for their part picked up a 1-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres. The win allowed Pittsburgh to close out the year on a 37-16-3 record on the year.

The defense for New York allowed 2.23 goals per game while facing only 28.4 shots per game. With Pittsburgh the offense was one of the best in the NHL with 3.45 goals per game while getting only 30.1 shots per game. The defense for Pittsburgh allowed 2.77 goals per game while facing a total of 30 shots per game. The power play for Pittsburgh converted at a clip of 23.7% on the year and the penalty kill for the Penguins sits at 77.4% on the year.

In the game here the Penguins will continue to showcase their dominance. The Penguins ended up winning 6 out of the 8 games in the regular season and in some of those games did not even look challenged. Yes, the Islanders have the better defense overall, but it will struggle against a smothering Penguins offense here. Final Score Prediction, Pittsburgh Penguins win 4-1.
