New Jersey Devils at Detroit Red Wings 10/25/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Detroit Red Wings host the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 25. Detroit has already beaten N.J. once this season, 5-2 on Oct. 15. The Red Wings won all three regular season games against the Devils last season.

New Jersey is 3-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 on the road so far this season. The Devils are 2-3 against the puckline and UNDER is 3-2. Detroit is 3-0-2 and 2-0-1 at home. The Red Wings are 3-2 against the puckline and OVER is 3-2 in their five games this season.

The Devils had won three consecutive games entering Monday night’s game against Washington. They beat the Sharks 2-1 on Oct. 22, the Islanders 4-1 on Oct. 20 and the Ducks 4-2 on Oct. 18 after opening the season losing to the Flyers 5-2 and then the Red Wings.

Detroit opened the season with wins over Montreal, 3-0, and then N.J., before losing back-to-back games in overtime, 5-4 to Los Angeles on Oct. 17 and 4-3 to Chicago on Oct. 21. The Red Wings last played Sunday and beat Anaheim 5-1.

Jesper Bratt leads New Jersey with eight points from his team-high eight assists. Ondrei Palat is the leading goal scorer with three. Nico Hischier, Dawson Mercer and Dougie Hamilton have each scored twice. Hischier is second on the team with six points and four assists. Mackenzie Blackwood has started four the Devils’ five games in net. He has a 2.02 goals against average with 75 saves and a save percentage of .904. Vitek Vanecek allowed five goals in his one start.

Dominik Kubalik leads Detroit with eight points and five assists. Dylan Larkin is one point behind Kubalik with three goals and four assists. David Perron is the team’s top goal scorer with four. Perron also has one assist. Ville Husso has started three games in goal for the Red Wings and has 92 saves with a .939 save percentage. Alex Nedelikovic has started twice and has 62 saves and a .912 save percentage.

Detroit won easily at New Jersey a week and a half ago 5-2. But since then, the Devils have limited their opponents to just four goals over three games. Detroit has continued to score, however, netting four goals a game on average.  We’ll take the Red Wings at home as the slight favorite but a little closer than last time. Final Score Prediction: Detroit wins 4-2.
