The Candiens are looking for similar success this season as they went to the Stanley Cup Finals last season but lost. Montreal went 24-21-11 last season winning 11 games on the road.

Montreal faced the Sabres back in 2020 when they won 3-1. The Candiens scored 158 goals last season and have added winger Matthieu Perreault this year to help bring more offensive power. Look for goaltender Jake Allen to to protect the net for Montreal until Carey Price is good to play again.

Buffalo went 15-34-7 last season and finished 6th in the Atlantic division. The Sabres are also winners of just 8 of their last 28 home games.

Sabres head coach Don Granato has made it clear that he wants this team to be competitive this season. JJ Peterka was part of a late minute move to send him back down to the minors before the season starts. Peterka showed promise in the preseason, scoring 3 goals in five games.

The Montreal Canadiens will already of had their feet wet with regular season play heading into Thursday. Watch for Buffalo to be a step behind as they look to adjust to regular season play. The Sabres had a disappointing preseason which will rollover into tonight. Final Score Prediction, Montreal Canadiens win 4-1.
