Los Angeles Kings at Dallas Stars 11/1/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Dallas Stars host the Los Angeles Kings on Nov. 1 as they meet for the first time this season. Dallas won two out of three against Los Angeles last season, both wins coming at home.

The Kings were 5-5 overall and 3-2 on the road prior to Monday night’s game at St. Louis. Against the puck line, they have gone 6-4 overall and 4-1 on the road. The OVER has hit in seven of their games this season. The Stars were off Monday and are 5-3-1 overall and 3-1 at home. Against the puck line, they are 6-3 overall and 3-1 at home. The UNDER has hit in six of their games so far.

Los Angeles won, 4-2, at home Saturday against Toronto. Adrian Kempe, Viktor Arvidsson, Kevin Fiala and Gabriel Vilardi all scored a goal apiece for the Kings. Anze Kopitar had two assists, while Fiala had one. Cal Petersen started in goal and had 26 saves.

Vilardi leads the Kings with 11 points from seven goals and four assists. Kopitar and Fiala have nine points each. Kopitar leads the team with eight assists. Fiala, in his first season with L.A., has scored twice and had seven assists.

Dallas last played Saturday, losing to the New York Rangers, 6-3, at home. The Stars gave up three unanswered goals in the third period after the game was tied 3-3 at the second intermission. Two of those third-period goals came after goalie Jake Oettinger left with an injury.

Roope Hintz, Mason Marchment and Jason Robertson all scored a goal for Dallas. Robertson also had an assist. Robertson leads Dallas with 10 points from four goals and six assists. Hintz also has six assists and has scored three times for nine points this season. Joe Pavelski is third on the team with eight points. He has four goals and four assists.

With Oettinger out, Scott Wedgewood will start in goal for Dallas. Wedgewood is 0-2-1 this season with a .880 save percentage and has allowed 4.29 goals per game. The Stars average scoring 3.1 goals per game and have given up 2.22 a game. The Kings are scoring 3.5 and allowing 3.9 goals a night. Los Angeles’ main goalie, Jonathan Quick, started Monday, so Cal Petersen should get the start. With the Kings playing back-to-back nights and having their backup in goal, we like the Stars to win despite being without Oettinger. Final Score Prediction: Dallas Stars win 4-3.
