The Lightning and the Panthers get to face off against each other in this game. However, unlike how these teams finished off the preseason, the Lightning were able to control the Panthers in the opening game of the season. That was a control that showed the defensive power of the Lightning as they allowed only 2 goals in the game, but also showed that the Lightning offense did not lose a step either by putting in a total of 5 goals.
Mikhail Sergachev was the leader on the Lightning squad as he managed to get a total of 3 points in the game. All of those points came in the assist department, which is fine with the Lightning players who were fed the puck. The Ligthning did manage to get all 5 goals from a different player.
Vincent Trocheck was the leader when it came to the scoring department. Trocheck was able to get a total of 2 points, but he split those points between getting an assist and a goal. So Trocheck definitely is showing up as a potential offensive leader for the Panthers this year.
Vasilevskiy was the goalie in net for the Lightning. He ended up with a great 94.6% of the shots that were sent his way saved. The Panthers had their new off season acquisition in the net in the form of Sergei Bobrovsky and he saved only 86.2% of the shots that he faced on the day.
