Lightning at Hurricanes 10/6/19 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Lightning started the year off by taking advantage of the Panthers in the opening game. Yes, the Lightning did not really play that well in the preseason, but once the regular season rolled around the Lightning returned to form. The team put in 5 goals in the first game. Then they had to face the Panthers in the second game of the year.

During the first game of the season when the Lightning scored 5 goals, they ended up only having at total of 30 shots in the game.  Defensively the Lightning gave up a couple of goals in the game, but the Lightning ended up facing a total of 37 shots and the defense did an amazing job of turning them away.

Carolina was able to pick up a win in their opening game on the year. The win was not as strong of a performance as what the Lightning had, but it was a win over a quality team in the Canadiens. The Hurricanes won the game by a score of 4-3 and really did look strong in the game.

In the game the Hurricanes had a ton of goals on net with a total of 43 goals. The downside is with that many shots on goal, you would expect the team to score better, but they only had the 4 goals. The Hurricanes defense did good in the game as they allowed only 3 goals out of the 36 shots that they did face.
