Islanders at Wild 3/17/19 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Islanders are playing decent hockey this year and that has really shocked a lot of people on the standings the team has. The Islanders, though, are still trailing behind the Capitals by a couple of points in the standings and that is going to make it harder for the Islanders to regain the first place spot. Now, the Islanders do have some competition for the second place spot, though, as the Penguins are only 2 points back from them.

Thomas Greiss is the player the Islanders have relied on in net this season with a total of 21 wins. He has managed to get a 2.22 goals against average, but has ended up getting a 92.8% of the shots sent towards him turned away. The Wild for their part do have a good team that has been competitive at times this season. The problem is the Wild do not have much in the way of an offense and that is going to prove to be the problem here for the Wild who are facing the best team in the NHL defensively. What else will not help the Wild out is the Islanders do have an offense that has been able to play decent on the season so far.

Devan Dubnyk is the goalie the Wild have been able to rely on quite a bit in net this year. Dubnyk on the season has managed to get a total of 27 wins on the year, but has a 2.61 goals against average and has turned away 91.1% of the shots that he has faced.

The Wild would like to come into this game and bring home a win. However, the balance of the offense tips to the Islanders and so does the performance the Islanders defense as well. Look for the Islanders to come into this game here with a great game that will lead to them getting the win here. Final Score Prediction, New York Islanders win 3-2.
