Islanders at Rangers 1/13/20 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Islanders head into the game here after getting handed a loss in their last game to the Bruins.  The loss was a lot closer than what the fans thought it would be as the final score was 3-2. The downside for the Islanders fans is the fact that the loss dropped them to 3rd in the Metro with a 27-12-4 record.

The Islanders have been led by Mathew Barzal on the year with a total of 16 goals on the year. However, Barzal is the do all player for the Islanders with 19 assist and 35 points overall. As a team the Islanders have allowed only 2.55 goals a game on the year.

The Rangers are heading into the game here with a 5-2 loss being hung on them in the last game on the ice. Granted, the Rangers were very outmatched in the game against the Blues, but the allowance of 5 goals was a shocker. The loss dropped the Rangers to 21-19-4 on the year.

When it comes to the offense the Rangers are much like the Islanders in relying on a single player for most of the production, but the Rangers are even worse. Artemi Panarin is the leader for the Rangers with 24 goals, 37 assist, and 61 points overall. The defense for the Rangers has allowed 3.30 goals a game.

The Islanders have the better defense heading into the game here and the Islanders have an offense that does rely on a single player most of the time, but the Islanders are able to get other players involved in the game as well. The Rangers rely almost completely on Panarin and if he does not produce the Rangers do not have any offense. Final Score Prediction, New York Islanders win 4-2.
