The Vegas Golden Knights look for a second straight victory when they visit the San Jose Sharks in the second half of a home-and-home between the two to open the season. Vegas won the opening game of the season 4-1 on Wednesday over the Sharks as Reilly Smith scored two and Cody Glass scored his first goal in the NHL. Mark Stone scored one goal and had one assist, while Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 21 shots.
The lone goal for San Jose was scored by Marcus Sorensen. The Sharks played several new faces on Wednesday after Evander Kane was given a three-game suspension on Tuesday and the league’s top defenseman Erik Karlsson did not play due to a personal matter just prior to the opening puck being dropped. Martin Jones stopped 31 shots in net for the Sharks.
Reilly Smith leads the Golden Knights in goals scored with two, while the assists leader is William Karlsson with two. Smith, Karlsson and Mark Stone are tied in points with two apiece. Marc-Andre Fleury is 1-0-0 with goals against of 1.00 and save percentage of .955.
San Jose is led in scoring by Marcus Sorensen with one goal, while Brett Burns leads in assists with one. Sorensen, Burns and Logan Couture each have one point to leads the Sharks. Martin Jones is 0-1-0 after one game with goals against of 4.00 and save percentage of .886.
