Calgary defeated the Dallas Stars in a shootout on Thursday 3-2. Johnny Gaudreau scored against Ben Bishop during the shootout to help lift the Flames to the win and improve to 2-1-1.
San Jose finally won its first game of the season on Thursday with a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. Patrick Marleau scored a pair of goals in his return to play for San Jose, while Barclay Goodrow’s goal broke a tie and Brent Burns scored helping the Sharks snap a four-game losing streak to open the season. Kevin Lebanc scored for San Jose as well.
