Flames at Oilers 1/29/20 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Flames start back from the All-Star break by playing the Saint Louis Blues on Tuesday night. However, the game before the All-Star break was a disappointing loss for the Flames to the Ottawa Senators by a score of 5-2. The loss did drop the Flames to a 26-19-5 record and in a tie for second place in the Pacific Division.

When the offense is on the ice for the Flames, the Calgary team has only managed to get 2.60 goals a game on the year. The defense for the Flames has allowed 2.94 goals a game. The power play has converted at a clip of 18.5% on the year while the penalty kill has managed to sit at a decent 82.5% on the season.

Edmonton gets to start the second half of the year off by playing against the Flames. The Oilers before the All-Star break were able to take down the Arizona Coyotes rather easily by a score of 7-3. The win actually allowed the Oilers to move up to the tie for second with the Flames with a 26-18-5 record on the year so far.

The Oilers offense on the year has ended up scoring at a clip of 3.12 goals a game on the year. The defense for the Edmonton team has allowed 3.10 goals per game. The power play for the Edmonton team is not that bad converting at a clip of 29.7% on the year. The penalty kill has not been horrible giving up 82.1% of the power plays the opponents have had.

The Oilers are playing at home and do have several extra days off. Look for those extra days off to allow the Oilers to rest their stars and with the Flames playing a hard game against the Blues will head into Edmonton tired and wore out. What else helps is the Oilers offense has come to life and should be able to take advantage of the Flames defense in the game here. Final Score Prediction, Edmonton Oilers win 5-3.
