The New Jersey Devils are heading into the game here with quite a bit in the way of improvement on the year with a 17-22-7 record. The downside is the Devils are still 7 points back from the Rangers in the Metro Division. The last game on the ice for the Devils was a 7-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A lot of the issues for New Jersey comes from the fact that their offense is not that great with only 2.62 goals a game being scored. The defense for New Jersey is not playing that well either with 3.38 goals a game allowed. The New Jersey Devils have converted on the power play at a clip of 14.3% so far and the penalty kill is sitting at 80.1% on the year.

The Capitals are one of the hottest teams in the NHL this season. The Capitals have a 31-11-5 record overall, but also are the Metro Division leaders with 67 points. The last game on the ice for the Capitals was a 2-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in what was a very impressive win for Washington.

The offense for the Capitals has been very impressive with 3.47 goals a game being scored on the year. The defense for Washington has allowed only 2.89 goals a game. The Capitals have converted on the power play at a clip of 20.8% on the year and the penalty kill for the Washington Capitals has ended up killing off 84% of the power plays.

The Capitals are playing red hot on the year and have a great offense, but also a decent defense as well. Look for the defense of  the Capitals to show up big in the game here as the Devils offense is weak, but still able to score when it is called upon and luck is on their side. Look for the Capitals, though, to really control the game here and that makes the difference in the game here as Washington dishes up their second shutout in as many games. Final Score Prediction, Washington Capitals win 4-0.
