Dallas Stars at Minnesota Wild 10/8/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

On Saturday, the Dallas Stars will play their final NHL preseason game when visiting the Minnesota Wild. Dallas is 2-4 during the preseason following its 2-1 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday. Dallas lost two straight to Colorado and the only two victories of the preseason for Dallas have been versus Arizona and St Louis. Last season Dallas finished 46-20-6 with 98 points and was fourth in the Central division.

Joe Pavelski, who was the leading point scorer for Dallas last season with 81, returns as does Jason Robertson and Roope HIntz. Robertson led the Stars in goals scored with 41. Hintz was second in scoring with 27. Two talented players returning from Dallas areTyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, who have both suffered through injuries the last couple of seasons, but will bring experience and leadership to the ice for the Stars.

Minnesota will also complete its preseason schedule when hosting Dallas on Saturday. Minnesota is 5-1 during the preseason with its most recent result a 4-1 victory over Chicago on Thursday. The only Minnesota defeat thus far during the preseason was 4-2 to the St. Louis Blues. Last season Minnesota finished 53-22-7 and was second in the Central Division with 113 points.

The offense for Minnesota will be led by center Kiril Kaprizov, who last season scored 47 goals and added 61 assists. Center Joel Eriksson EK, Ryan Hartman and Frederick Gaudreau are the other top producers on offense. Last season Hartman finished with 65 points, Ek with 49 points and Gaudreau added 44 points. Veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury signed during the offseason with Minnesota and will be backed up in goal by Filip Gustavsson. 

Minnesota will have a highly talented squad this season that should improve over its 113 points from last season. Kirill Kaprizov is one of the most dynamic scorers in the game today and is coming off a season of 108 points including 47 goals and 61 assists. Minnesota has lost just one of its preseason games and the Wild will pick up another victory at home on Saturday to complete their preseason schedule.
