Chicago Blackhawks at Vegas Golden Knights 10/13/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Vegas Golden Knights host the Chicago Blackhawks for the season home opener at T-Mobile Arena Thursday night. The Knights are coming off a road win, after beating the LA Kings Tuesday night 4-3.

Vegas was down early, losing 1-0 after the first period. The Knights struck back in the 2nd period to tie it up 1-1 going into the 3rd. The Golden Knights and the Kings scored a total of five goals in the final period, including Mark Stone scoring the game winning goal with 24.9 seconds left to play. Vegas put a whopping 51 shots up, had five power play opportunities scoring on one and only 3 giveaways.

The Chicago Blackhawks are coming in after a disappointing 28-42-12 record last season and are on a rebuild this season. Chicago has lost four of their five top leading scorers from last season, including team leading scorer Alex DeBrincat. Patrick Kane returns with 26 goals and 66 assists from last season.

Chicago had a less than impressive preseason going 1-5, scoring 6 total goals and allowing 22 total goals in six games. The Blackhawks have a tough start to the season as they have back to back road games. The Blackhawks will start Petr Mrazek in the net and have named Jonathan Toews as Captain for the 15th season in a row.

With Chicago in a rebuild year, we see Vegas taking advantage of this game quickly. The Golden Knights have more chemistry built as a team, which will lead to less mistakes and more scoring. Vegas wins big at home. Final Score Prediction, Vegas Golden Knights win on the puckline 4-1.
