Headed back to the worlds most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York, the Carolina Hurricanes will travel to face off against the New York rangers on Sunday for a scheduled puck drop time of 3:30 PM Eastern. This game will be available on ESPN. Between the two teams, in two games, they have combined for a total of five goals.

New York had 21 shots on goal, had 22 hits in the contest, had 27 face-offs won, and 10 penalty minutes. Carolina failed to score on any power play time although unleashed a barrage of shots on goal tender Igor Shesterkin. New York head coach Gerard Gallant split up the "kid line" in the third period moving Lafrenire to the first line to play alongside Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider unfortunately still coming up empty.

Brendan Smith scored a shorthanded goal assisted by Sebastian Aho in the matchup who also added an empty net goal with 1.8 seconds left on the clock in the game. Goaltender Anti Raanta was the number one star of the game with 21 saves and the shut out. Star number two was Brendan Smith, number three with Sebastian Aho.

The New York Rangers as a team normally average 3.05 goals per game on 29.2 shots on average. This is not the New York team we are accustomed to seeing on the ice this season. In addition, Carolina is penalty prone having 758 penalty minutes this season however not giving New York much power playtime in the series. Face offs have been a problem as well, as Carolina won that match up 35–27 in the last game which begs the question, when does Barclay Goodrow come back for the New York Rangers at center. As of four days ago according to USA today, Goodrow has not been ruled out for the entire round two series but is still using crutches and a walking boot. Recent reports say the walking boot is off and Barclay is close to skating.

With Frederik Andersen being out for Carolina, New York has failed to capitalize on the goaltending matchup as they hold a possible Vesina winning goal tender and Carolina is playing on the second string goalie. Even though goaltender Anti Raanta has played above his talent so far in the series, we see New York coming away with a victory at Madison Square Garden attacking Carolina early in the first period. Final Score Prediction: New York Rangers win by the score of 3–2.
