Carolina Hurricanes at Florida Panthers 11/9/22 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Wednesday night NHL schedule will get underway with a matchup between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers from FLA Live Arena. The Hurricanes (8-3-1) have won five of their first seven road games and could be the most complete team in the Eastern Conference. On Sunday, Carolina had their four-game winning streak snapped during a 3-1 home loss versus Toronto.

Carolina got on the scoreboard first on a Stefan Noesen power play from Andrei Svechnikov and Brent Burns. Frederik Andersen stopped 18 of 21 shots in a losing effort for the Hurricanes, who outshot the Maples Leafs by a 30-21 margin.

The Florida Panthers have yet to suffer a regulation loss through their first four home games and have shown more toughness with the addition of Matthew Tkachuk. Last time out, Florida concluded a four-game road trip with a 5-3 victory against Anaheim. The Panthers (7-5-1) scored on two of their five power play opportunities and held a 48-35 margin in shots on goal.

Florida D Brandon Montour was the offensive star of the game with a goal and three assists. Sam Reinhart scored his first goal of the season to break a 2-2 tie and added an empty net goal for the Panthers. G Spencer Knight stopped 32 of 35 shots to improve to 4-1-0 on the year.

Florida F Matthew Tkachuk has been suspended by the league for two games for poking LA G Jonathan Quick in the face with his stick on Saturday. These two teams rank in the top three in expected goals, so the over is worth a look. The stronger play is on the Hurricanes to win on the road. Final Score Prediction, Carolina Hurricanes win 4-3.
