The Hurricanes are one team that could have done better last year, but they were unable to keep pace and fell behind towards the end of the season. The Hurricanes last year ended up with 3.19 goals per game with a conversion of 22.3% on the power play. Defensively the Hurricanes allowed 2.84 goals per game and killed off 84% of the power plays.

Jordan Staal is coming back for the Hurricanes this year and that could bolster up the Hurricanes who lost Aho. However, Teuvo Teravainen is coming to the team as well. The goalie should be Petr Mrazek who looked very impressive last year, but also James Reimer is coming back as well.

The Red Wings are finally sitting in first place in the Central Division, but it comes from the fact that the Red Wings and the rest of the NHL has yet to play a game. Last year Detroit scored only 2 goals a game and converted on the power play at 14.9%. The defense for Detroit was horrible giving up 3.73 goals a game and only killing off 74.3% of the power plays.

So far Dylan Larkin has survived the trade rumors and remains with the Red Wings for now. Henrik Zetterberg managed to survive as well and should be able to continue to help Detroit out on the year. The goalie the Red Wings should be able to rely on is Jonathan Bernier and potentially the Islanders transplant in Thomas Greiss.

The Red Wings made some changes during the off season, but it does not seem like any of them would be addressing the lack of offense on the team. With that being the case it will make it very difficult for the Red Wings to produce in the game here and leads to the Hurricanes getting a solid win in the game on the under. Final Score Prediction, Carolina Hurricanes win 4-0.
