The Capitals are sitting in a good position in the Metro Division as they are leading by 4 points now. However, the Capitals do have the Islanders breathing down their necks along with the Penguins charging up. As the season has been winding down, though, the Capitals seem to be getting better and that will definitely help the defending champions in getting ready for a run to protect the cup.

John Carlson is leading the team with a total of 50 assist on the year so far. The Penguins are coming into the higher level of playing at the right time. The Penguins are finally in the guaranteed 3rd spot on their own. However, what else is impressive for the Penguins is the fact they are winning a lot of games lately and look like they finally shook off a lot of the problems they had early on in the season and that will definitely help the Penguins in getting to secure wins they need to have to continue to strive towards a playoff berth.
