Will the Vegas Golden Knights be able to make history? That remains to be seen, but one historical point they have already made is proving that an expansion team can make it to the finals. The Golden Knights who at the start of the season had astronomical odds of making the cup finals have disproved the doubters and actually made some people very wealthy by making it all the way to the finals in the Stanley Cup.

The Capitals are they going to finally give Alexander Ovechkin the Stanley Cup that he has been looking for his entire career. That remains to be seen as well, but one that that is known is the fact the Capitals are a team that has managed to become one of the most tenacious teams in the NHL this season and has been able to overcome a lot of the deficits they have been put under on the year.
Braden Holtby will most likely get the nod in this game for the Capitals to be between the pipes. In game 7 of the Lightning game Holtby was amazing at how he played and if he can continue to do this he should shut down the Golden Knights offense. The other player to keep an eye out on for the Capitals is Ovechkin. He has been the team leader all season and is thirsty for the cup.

The Golden Knights will most like turn the glove to Marc Andre-Fleury on the night. He was an outstanding net minder for the Penguins in the playoffs last season and this season he has been doing a repeat of the same for the Golden Knights this experience could easily help the Golden Knights out in getting the win they need to have to stay ahead of the Capitals who have been surging.

The Capitals have not really been in this position before, but neither have the Golden Knights. The big difference is the Golden Knights have an amazing leader who has been in the position before in Fleury. That leadership will help calm the nerves of the Golden Knights players as the Capitals come out in game 1 and simply try to hard to bring home the win for Ovechkin and company. The Golden Knights win this opening game of the Stanley Cup 3-2.
