The Capitals are still sitting on top of the Metro Division, but the Penguins are definitely closing the gap quickly. The Capitals last game before the All-Star game was a 6-4 win over the Islanders who have faded all the way back to 3rd place in the Metro.

Alex Ovechkin has been the goal scorer for the Capitals on the year with 34 goals. John Carlson has managed to get 47 assist on the season with 60 points total. The Capitals have allowed only 2.90 goals per game this season.

Montreal managed to pick up 2 straight wins before the All-Star break and the most recent game was a 5-4 win over the Vegas Golden Knights. Even with the win, though, the Canadiens have only managed to get 22-21-7 record on the year so far.

The goal scorer for the Canadiens has been Tomas Tatar with 17goals. Tomas Tatar has been able tog et 26 assist on the year and have managed to get 43 points total on the year. When it comes to the defense the Canadiens have allowed only 3.12 goals per game.

This game is one that could definitely be slanted to the favor of the Capitals. Yes, the Capitals are coming back off of the All-Star break to face a Montreal team that did just win2 straight games, but the Canadiens have historically been a slow starting team after coming off of a break. Look for that to continue in the game here as the Canadiens are unable to get much going in the game after the break here. Final Score Prediction, Washington Capitals win 4-1.
