The number 1 team in the NHL looked horrible when they went into the round robin. The Bruins went from being the first team and a lock of a first seed under the original format to a team that had to settle for a 4th ranked seed. All of that is from the fact that the Bruins were starting off very slow and looked horrible.

Boston on the year managed to get 3.24 goals a game scored. The defense for the Bruins allowed a total of 2.39 goals per game. The Bruins on the power play converted at a clip of 25.2% on the year and the penalty kill for Boston killed off 84.2% of the power plays faced.

Carolina is coming in after taking down the Rangers. Granted, the game against the Rangers was not much of a challenge for the Hurricanes who were able to take down the Rangers without even looking challenged. Now, the Hurricanes are going to have a challenge to take on Boston, who was very sloppy in the play since coming back.

The offense for Carolina ended up playing really well and put in a total of 3.19 goals a game. The defense for the Hurricanes allowed only 2.84 goals per game. When getting to the power play the Hurricanes have converted at a clip of 22.3% and the penalty kill for Carolina looked great killing off 84% of the opponents power plays.
