Boston Bruins at Buffalo Sabres 3/19/23 - NHL Picks & Predictions

In Sunday afternoon NHL action, the Boston Bruins will invade the KeyBank Center to take on the Buffalo Sabres. The Bruins (52-11-5) are looking to surpass the NHL record for wins in a season (62) and are averaging 3.70 goals per game. On Saturday, G Linus Ullmark made 29 saves to lead Boston to a 5-2 road victory against Minnesota.

All-Star David Pastrnak scored his 47th goal of the season to break a 1-1 tie midway through the second period. David Krejci followed a few minutes later to give Boston a 3-1 lead. Brad Marchand contributed three assists for the Bruins, who won 36 of 60 faceoffs.

The Buffalo Sabres have dropped six of their last seven games and are six points back in the race for the final Eastern Conference playoff  spot. The Sabres (33-29-6) rank third in the league in goals scored at 3.63 per game and are led in scoring by RW Tage Thompson with 87 points. On Friday, Buffalo surrendered three goals during the second period of a disappointing 5-2 road loss against Philadelphia.

Buffalo trailed 4-0 entering the third period and Victor Olofsson found the back of the net twice on power play opportunities. Casey Mittlestadt assisted on both goals for the Sabres, who outshot the Flyers by a 38-22 margin.

Boston D Derek Forbort has hurt blocking a shot during Thursday’s game and will remain sidelined for this contest. Last time these two teams met, Boston scored seven goals on their way to an easy home victory. Look for the Bruins to win on the road in a game that goes over the total. Final Score Prediction, Boston Bruins win 5-3.
