Protecting the title is a lot harder than what the Blues expected coming into the year. However, the Blues are a team that has a target on their back this season and that target is fairly large, but it is not enough for the Blues to be slowed down as they are coming out the gates quite a bit better than what they did last year as the Blues lead the division already.

The defense which looked questionable in the opening game of the year is now giving up only 2.33 goals a game. The Blues have converted on the power play at a total of 14.7% on the year, but have killed off 85.7% of the penalties they have faced.

The Senators have not really picked up from where they finished last year. The Senators have yet to bring home a win on the year and that could definitely prove to be problematic for the Senators who finished last year with one of the worst offense’s in the league.

This season the Senators have only managed to get an average of 2 goals a game scored. The defense, though, is a huge problem giving up 4.50 goals a game on average. The Senators have only killed off 62.5% of the penalties they have faced this season.
