Blues at Bruins 5/29/19 - NHL Playoffs Picks & Predictions

The Blues lost what looked like a won game against the Bruins in the opening game of the series. However, the thing that really caught the Blues attention was the fact that the Bruins are a scrappy team and were able to battle back from the close game they had been playing to bring home the win. The only reason the scored ended up at a 4-2 margin is the Bruins were able to find the back of the net late in the game. The Blues did have Jordan Binnington play in the game to lead the team in net. Binnington was under quite a bit of pressure in the game as he faced a total of 37 shots in the game and was only able to turn 34 of them away. However, he had to face 9 shots that were shorthanded, but also had to perform well on the Bruins power play as he nailed down a save on that as well.

The Bruins were able to rely on Rask in the net like they have almost all season. Rask, though, was not under a ton of pressure in the game as he only faced a total of 20 shots in the game. The downside is he did allow 2 of the shots to get by him and that definitely puts him in a worse save category than what the Blues have been able to do with Binnington.

The Bruins have a chance to take a commanding lead of 2-0 in the series and definitely will be looking to increase their offensive pressure even more in this game. The Blues, though, have the sniper shooting and the defense knows what to expect now and that will definitely help the Blues out in getting the defense ramped up to help keep Binnington free from the large number of shots he faced in the first game. Final Score Prediction, Saint Louis Blues win 2-1.
