Blue Jackets at Devils 2/20/18 - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Columbus Blue Jackets (29 - 25 - 5, 63 pts) are on the road to square up against the New Jersey Devils (31 - 20 - 8, 70 pts). New Jersey will be hosting this game at the Prudential Center where their fans will be loud and looking for another win. New Jersey leads Columbus in the Metropolitan Division and the Devils are coming home off of a victory over Carolina. Columbus just fell to Pittsburgh and the Blue Jackets will be trying to bounce back with a victory here.

The New Jersey Devils are taking the ice with a team that is poised to make some noise on offense. New Jersey is 12th in the NHL in goals scored per game with left winger Taylor Hall (23 goals, 38 assists) leading the scoring charge. New Jersey is struggling on defense, however, as the Devils continue to give up goals at an unsustainable rate for serious playoff contention. The Columbus Blue Jackets are going to be an underdog in this game but that isn't for a lack of talent. Columbus is 28th in the NHL in goals scored per game despite the strong play of elite scorer Artemi Panarin (16 goals, 31 assists). Columbus has made defense their calling card this year as the Blue Jackets are ranked 11th in the NHL in goals given up per game. Columbus will try to slow this game down in order to take this game from New Jersey.

The Blue Jackets are having some problems on offense and it really is showing up on the ice. The Devils on the other hand, have managed to pick up some great game play on the year and have seen the offense start to come to life here. That will be the difference between these two teams here. We like New Jersey to defeat Columbus in this game, 3 - 2.
