Avalanche at Sharks 4/28/19 - NHL Playoffs Picks & Predictions

The Avalanche look like they have rejuvenated the horrible way of playing hockey in the last game. The Avalanche came into the game and were matching up really well with the Sharks at first, but then something happened and the defense seems to have crumbled under the pressure the Sharks offense was putting up. The Avalanche ended up allowing 5 goals in the opening game of the series, but what is even worse is the Avalanche were unable to really counter in the game s they ended up losing the game 5-2 and they were completely shut out in the 3rd period. The Avalanche had Philipp Grubauer in the net in this game. He did face a total of 26 shots and was able to save 22 of them. One of the Sharks goals came against the empty net. Grubauer did have a power play save and a shorthanded save in the game, but still the 4 goals that he allowed in the first 2 periods are what cost the Avalanche.

Martin Jones was in the net for the Sharks in this game. Jones faced a total of 28 shots and managed to turn away 26 of those shots that were directed towards him on net. What is really interesting is the Sharks actually allowed a couple of shorthanded shots to be sent towards Jones that landed close enough to be counted as a shot on goal.

The Sharks are a dominate force and a team that could really end up giving the Avalanche more than they can handle, like they did in the opening game of the series. Look for that to continue in the second game as the Sharks are able to keep the offensive pressure up in the game and bring home a win in this game. Final Score, San Josh Sharks win 5-2.
