The Avalanche are coming into this game with the Blues passing them up in the Central standings, but also with the dead tie for last place with the Chicago Blackhawks. That is one position the Avs did not expect to find themselves in with how well they had been playing most of the season and it is definitely a position the Avs would like to improve on.

Mikko Rantanen is the player the Avs have been able to turn to quite a bit in their times of need as he has been able to get a total of 75 points on the year. Rantanen has been able to score 24 goals and 51 assist. The goal leader for the Avs is Gabriel Landeskog who has been able to get a total of 29 goals on the year.
The Islanders are sitting very nicely in the later half of the season so far as the Islanders find themselves a total of 2 points over the Capitals and 5 points of the Blue Jackets. However, the Islanders are also finding out that they are able to win the low scoring games as well and that has been what has really helped to make the difference for the Islanders on the year so far.

Mathew Barzal is the leader for the Islanders on the season so far as he has managed to get a total of 48 points. He has managed to get 16 goals and 32 assist on the year. Anders Lee is the leading goal scorer for the Islanders as he has managed to get 18 goals on the season.

The Islanders are not a major offensive threat like the Avalanche have been on the year. Instead, the Islanders are a defensive team that has a motor that cannot be turned off. What else will help the Islanders out quite a bit is the fact the team is able to turn up the offensive pressure when they need to. Final Score Prediction, New York Islanders win 3-1.
