The final NHL preseason game will feature a matchup between the Arizona Coyotes and the Vegas Golden Knights from T-Mobile Arena. The Coyotes finished last season with a Western Conference low 57 points and ranked last in hockey in scoring (2.51). Arizona re-signed LW Lawson Crouse (20 goals) and had four players finish with 50 plus points last year.
On Tuesday, Arizona outshot Vegas by a 53-27 margin during a 4-3 road loss. C Barrett Hayton tallied a goal and two assists for the Coyotes, who fell to 0-4-1 on the preseason.
The Vegas Golden Knights missed the postseason for the first time in franchise history and hired Bruce Cassidy from Boston to be their new head coach. For the Golden Knights to return to the playoffs, C Jack Eichel (14 goals, 11 assists) will have to stay healthy. Vegas G Robin Lehner (hip) will miss the season and the team will look to second year pro Logan Thompson (2.68 GAA) to man the crease.
On Wednesday, Vegas scored three goals in the second period to grab the lead during a 6-4 victory versus Los Angeles in Salt Lake City. RW Reilly Smith scored twice and assisted on another goal for the Golden Knights.
Vegas G Laurent Brossoit is recovering from hip surgery and his status for the season opener is uncertain. The Coyotes are playing on consecutive nights and the Golden Knights have too much offensive firepower. Take Vegas to win at home. Final Score Prediction, Vegas Golden Knights win 5-2.
