The Washington Capitals were playing great hockey on the year before the pause. Now, the Capitals are looking to continue to play at a very high level heading into the restart. The Capitals, though, do have a great number of players who can easily restart the year and start off quick as long as they can avoid the injury bug.

Leading the point scoring overall for the Capitals was John Carlson who put in a total of 75 points. Carlson was an assist machine for the Capitals with a total of 60 assist on the year. The goal leader for the Washington Capitals was Alex Ovechkin who put in a total of 48 goals on the year.

The goalies for the Capitals was one position that was solid all year long. The Capitals were able to rely on Braden Holtby for most of the games with 48 games played. Holtby ended up getting a 25-14-6 record and allowed 3.11 goals a game and saved 89.7% of the shots sent towards him. Ilya Samsonov played in 26 games with a 16-6-2 record with 2.55 goals allowed. Samsonov ended up getting 91.3% of the shots saved.

With the Capitals they are one team that has not really started off slow at all. The Capitals are looking to improve even more on the year and potentially be a threat for the Stanley Cup again this year. Look for the Capitals to be one team that is able to really improve even more on the season, but that only holds true if the players are able to remain healthy and injury free.
