2020 Buffalo Sabres Recap - NHL Picks & Predictions

The Buffalo Sabres were not one team that looked that impressive in the regular season before the pause. Now, the Sabres are going to watch the 24 team tournament from the sidelines as the Sabres were unable to make enough points to get to the playoffs and were one of the first teams to be eliminated.

One thing that the Sabres were able to learn about the team was that they definitely need to get some extra support for Jack Eichel. Eichel has been one player that has really looked up lately and with 78 points total was the player who was carrying the Sabres with a commanding 28 point lead over the next closest scorer.  Eichel even led the Sabres with 36 goals and 42 assist in the game.

The Sabres really were able to come into the season with a couple of great goalies. However, they were able to split the time fairly evenly which could have hurt the defensive balance that the Sabres needed. One of the leading goalies that the Sabres had was Linus Ullmark. Ullmark ended up playing in 34 games and managed to get a 17-14-3 record on the year and allowed only 2.69 goals a game while saving 91.5% of the shots.

When it comes to protecting the net the other goalie that the Sabres relied on was Carter Hutton. Hutton played in a total of 31 games and posted a 12-14-4 record in his season. Carter did allow 3.18 goals a game and did end up getting a save percentage that sat at 89.8% on the year.
