Week 5 – NFL Sunday Prop Bets – 10/9/22

We’re back for Week 5 with another five player prop recommendations for Sunday’s games after going 1-for-4 in Week 4. Alvin Kamara was a bit of a surprise inactive, voiding one of our five picks.

Don’t forget that Sunday kicks off early again this week as the Packers and Giants play in London. We’ll highlight one prop for that game, four from the 1 p.m. starts and one for the nightcap.

NFL Week 5 Best Player Props for Sunday - 10/9/22

Saquon Barkley, RB, Giants, OVER 78.5 rushing yards (-110)

Dalvin Cook, RB, Vikings, OVER 77.5 rushing yards (-115)

Zach Wilson, QB, Jets, OVER 218.5 passing yards (-115)

Tom Brady, QB, Buccaneers, OVER 283.5 passing yards (-115)

Ja`Marr Chase, WR, Bengals, OVER 70.5 receiving yards (-119)

Saquon Barkley

Barkley leads the NFL with 463 yards through four games, and his 5.5 yards per carry ranks 12th among all rushers. He has only gone under 80 yards once, when the Carolina Panthers held him to 72 yards in Week 3. Barkley ran for 146 in Week 1 and 81 in Week 2. He is coming off a dominant performance in Week 4 at Tennessee with 164 yards on 18 carries. Barkley should find plenty of room to run again this week in London as Packers have allowed 5 yards per rush, eighth-most in the NFL.

Pick: Saquon Barkley OVER 78.5 rushing yards

Dalvin Cook

No team has given up more rushing yards or seen more running attempts than the Bears with 143 rushes for 733 yards by their first four opponents. Cook just ran for 76 yards on 20 carries against a Saints defense that is giving up just 4 yards per carry to the Bears 5.1. He opened the season with 20 carries for 90 yards against Green Bay then ran just six times for 17 yards against the Eagles in Week 2 before a 17-carry, 96-yard day against Detroit. It seems improbable that the Bears hold Cook under 80 yards this week.

Pick: Dalvin Cook OVER 77.5 rushing yards (-115)

Zach Wilson

Wilson connected on just 50% of his passes and had two interceptions in his 2022 debut at Pittsburgh in Week 4. That said, he still finished with 18 completions for 252 yards and a touchdown. The Steelers have been a little better than average this season allowing 6.4 yards per pass attempt, but Wilson finished 7.0. The Dolphins are allowing 7.8 YPA this season, second-most in the league, and have given up nearly 300 yards a game to opposing quarterbacks. Mac Jones got 213 against Miami, so Wilson should have no trouble throwing for 220-plus.

Pick: Zach Wilson OVER 218.5 passing yards (-115)

Tom Brady

Brady opened the season completing 39-of-52 passes 385 yards against the Chiefs. Since then, his yardage totals have been 271, 190 and 212. That middle performance at New Orleans in Week 3 was particularly bad as Brady completed just 52.9% of his passes. Atlanta’s defense is nothing special, but it is especially bad at stopping opposing quarterbacks. The Falcons have allowed the fourth-highest completion percentage, 69.1%, and the eighth-most passing yards, 1,040, in the league this season. Brady threw for 284 or more yards 10 times last season, including 368 against the Falcons in Week 13 last season.

Pick: Tom Brady OVER 283.5 passing yards

Ja`Marr Chase

Chase hauled in 10-of-16 targets for 129 yards in Week 4 after a slow start to the season. He opened the year with just four receptions against Miami but did have 81 yards. Then came a six-catch, 29-yard day against the Jets followed by a 9-for-54 showing at Dallas. Baltimore has given up 1,261 passing yards to opposing offenses this season to the tune of 7.1 yards per attempt. The Bengals will need to throw the ball to keep pace with the Ravens offense, so expect Chase to see plenty of targets and get 75-plus yards.

Pick: Ja`Marr Chase OVER 70.5 receiving yards
