Washington opened their season at home with an upset win over the Eagles, coming in as almost a touchdown underdog Washington rallied to end the game scoring 27 unanswered points to end the game. The Cardinals upset last years Superbowl runner-up 49ers with a 4th quarter rally to come away with the road win over San Fransisco.

Leading the Cardinals is second-year quarterback Kyler Murray who opened his season excelling through the air and on the ground, leading the team in rushing with 91 yards while going 26/40 for 230 yards and a touchdown through the air. Offseason acquisition DeAndre Hopkins caught 14 balls for 151 yards, leading the league in both receptions and yards through Week 1.

The Cardinals defense looked exceptional against the dangerous rushing attack of the 49ers holding the leagues’ best rushing attack last season to just 123 yards and 4.5 yards per carry. Arizona was able to get off the field on third down with a ton of success stopping the 49ers on two fourth-down stops and getting off the 49ers off the field on 9/11 third downs.

Washington’s offense wasn’t anything special in the Eagles win, rushing the ball for just 2.2 yards per carry on 36 rushing attempts. DeWayne Haskins completed just 17/31 passes for 178 yards and added a touchdown, but managed the game and was able to lead his team to a second-half comeback behind two short-yardage touchdown runs from Peyton Barber.

Washington forced three turnovers and held the Eagles to just 265 total yards. The young Washington defense forced eight sacks, held the Eagles to just 57 rushing yards and turned up the pressure in the second half, holding the Eagles scoreless.

Washington had the benefit of playing an Eagles team that had injuries on the offensive line, leading to 8 sacks and three forced turnovers. Facing a Cardinals offense that has a mobile quarterback that can make plays with his legs, it will be difficult to recreate those numbers. The Cardinals offense looked exceptional in the season opener and with the addition of Deandre Hopkins paired with a young quarterback poised to take a step forward in his second year. If the Cardinals defense can build off a solid week one, the Washington Football Team could take a step back in a letdown game after a huge division win to open the season. Final score prediction, Arizona Cardinals win and cover ATS 31-21.
