Washington Commanders 2022-23 - NFL Schedule

In 2021-22, the Washington Commanders finished 7-10, which was third in the NFC East. Washington was 3-5 at home and 6-3 on the road. The Commanders finished the regular season 23rd in scoring with an average of 19.7 points per game and were 25th in points allowed at 25.5 points per game. The Washington running attack averaged 121.3 yards per game which was 12th and the passing game averaged 202.4 yards per game which was 21st.

In 2022-23 expect Washington's offense to improve significantly. Offseason acquisition Carson Wentz will start under center for Washington. Last season with Indianapolis, Wentz passed for 3,563 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Antonio Gibson returns as the lead running back for Washington and last season rushed for 1,037 yards and seven touchdowns. Terry McLaurin gives Washington a proven receiver and last season with the Commanders, caught 77 passes for 1,053 yards and five touchdowns.

Washington's defense finished second overall in 2020 when they were a surprise winner of the NFC East, but in 2021 the defense dropped to 22nd. Washington's defense will be a 4-3. The front four will be led by defensive end Chase Young and playing opposite Young will be Montez Sweat, while Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne will be the starting tackles. The linebacker corps will be led by Cole Holcomb while the secondary has two solid safeties in Kamren Curl and Bobby McCain. The two starting cornerbacks are Kendall Fuller and William Jackson III.
