Titans at Browns 9/8/19 - NFL Picks & Predictions

The Titans take to the road to open the year against the Browns. While that used to be an easy call, the Titans are facing a team that actually looks really good this season and could end up being a potential playoff team. The Titans did finish the preseason with a 2-2 record and both of the wins did come on the road, but the wins also came in week 1 and 4, the weeks that usually has all the backups in for both of the teams.

The offense will be led again this season by Marcus Mariota, who has been disappointing at times for the Titans in the past. The Titans may end up leaning heavily on him as Derrick Henry the starting running back is already listed as questionable. The defense may hinge on how well the 3-4 formation does for the Titans as DaQuan Jones will be positioned over the ball, but Kenny Vaccaro may have to fill the gaps quickly from his strong safety position.

The Browns in the preseason looked very impressive with a 3-1 record in the preseason. Even in the last game the Browns backups were able to guide the team past the Lions. However, the depth on the Browns could be questioned as they already have a couple of players that are listed as being questionable or suspended.

Baker Mayfield has a chance to make a statement in this game here. Mayfield is facing a team that has a decent defense if the players all show up. However, the Browns also have Chubb back in the backfield and most of the line from last year intact. If Odell Beckham Jr. is able to go, then the Browns have an even better lineup to face the Titans with. Defensively the Browns starters are all going to be present in the game, but if any injuries do happen, the Browns could quickly have some issues as some of the backups are injured.
