The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished their 2021-22 NFL regular season 13-4 and won the NFC South title. Tampa Bay was 4-2 in division play, 7-1 at home and 6-3 on the road. The Buccaneers were defeated by the Los Angeles Rams 30-27 in the NFC division playoffs. Tampa Bay finished second in scoring with an average of 30.1 points per game and was fifth in points allowed at 20.8 points per game. The Buccaneers rushed for an average of 98.4 yards per game and passed for an average of 307.6 yards per game, which was first in the NFL.
Tom Brady returns under center for yet another season. In 2021, Brady threw for 5,316 yards with 43 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The leading rusher returning from last season is Leonardo Fournette, who ran for 812 yards with eight touchdowns. Chris Godwin and Mike Evans return as Brady’s favorite targets. Last season, Godwin had 1,103 yards receiving and five touchdowns, while Evans had 1,035 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns.
Tampa Bay will play a 3-4 defense in 2022. The starting defensive ends are expected to be William Gholston and Akiem Hicks, while Vita Vea will anchor the middle of the line at nose tackle. The linebacker corps will be led by inside linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White while Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Shaquil Barrett will play on the outside. Tampa Bay's starting safeties will be Antoine Winfield Jr and Logan Ryan, while the two starting quarterbacks are expected to be Jamel Dean and Carlton Davis.
