Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2019 Season Preview - NFL Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 08/20/2019 at 10:40 AM ET

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off an 11-loss season and hired head coach Bruce Arians to turn things around. Arians will spend his first year seeing if he can develop former number one overall pick Jameis Winston into a franchise quarterback. Winston is blessed with a talented receiving corps that include Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and O.J. Howard.

The Buccaneers were one of six NFL teams that failed to average 100 yards rushing last season and will likely struggle to do so again. Second year RB Ronald Jones will try to navigate running lanes behind a below average offensive line.

Tampa Bay has a ton of question marks on a defense that allowed 383 yards and 29 points per contest in 2018. The Buccaneers used the number five overall draft pick to grab LB Devin White to be the quarterback of the defense. Tampa Bay signed DL Ndamukong Suh in free agency to provide some stability along the front.

Without much of a pass rush to speak of, the Buccaneers will struggle mightily to defend the pass. Former first round pick Vernon Hargreaves has to play better.

It is going to take some time for Bruce Arians to get things turned around in Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers have an extremely difficult first half schedule and are likely to finish at the bottom of the NFC South standings. Take the under. Final Season Prediction, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Under 6.5 Wins.
