Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers 8/13/22 - NFL Preseason Picks & Predictions

Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA will host a week 1 preseason game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Russell Wilson era in Seattle is over as the former league MVP now plays for the Denver Broncos. Geno Smith and Drew Lock will compete with one another to determine the new starter for Seattle in 2022. Both quarterbacks should see multiple snaps in week one of the preseason to give the coaches a look at each of their skill sets.

Rashaad Perry will still be running back number one for the Seattle Seahawks as Kenneth Walker III will serve as the backup and see the field often. The Seahawks have an elite group of receivers led by DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Most of the Seattle starters other than the quarterbacks will see limited time in week one of the preseason but Seattle still has the talent and depth to compete against Pittsburgh.

Much like Seattle Pittsburgh will be moving on from a veteran quarterback as Ben Roethhlisberger retired this offseason leaving the Pittsburgh offense to a new quarterback. Mitchell Trubisky is expected to start for Pittsburgh at the beginning of the year but a highly touted draft pick in Kenny Pickett will be nipping at his heels all season. Trubisky and PIckett are expected to see a lot of snaps in the preseason as they will continue to compete for the number one job.

The defensive side of the ball is the strongest aspect for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season as they come into the season ranked 20th in the league. TJ Watt and Cam Heyward will continue to lead the Pittsburgh defense up front, but a lackluster group of linebackers and a mediocre set of defensive backs will be the issue this season in Pittsburgh.
