Seattle Seahawks 2020 Preview - NFL Odds, Picks, & Betting Predictions

Last Updated: 05/31/2020 at 10:31 AM ET

The Seattle Seahawks finished second in the NFC West in 2019 with an overall record of 11-5. The Seahawks are expected to battle for second place in the division with the Los Angeles Rams as the San Francisco 49ers have been made favorites to win the division by oddsmakers ever since losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl this past February. New faces will litter the lineups on both offense and defense for Seattle in 2020.

Russell Wilson returns as the starting quarterback. Last season Russell threw for 4,110 yards, 31 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Chris Carson returns as the starting running back after last season rushing for 1,230 yards and seven touchdowns. Carson did suffer a season-ending injury late last year but is expected to start in  the opening game of the season. The top receivers for the Seahawks will be DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett while Phillip Dorsett will be the slot receiver and Will Disley is expected to start at tight end.

The only offensive lineman who is guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup is left tackle Duane Brown. At left guard Mike Iupati is expected to start while BJ Finney World should start at center, Damien Lewis at right guard and Brandon Shell at right tackle. With Finney likely to start at center it shows the Seahawks are expecting to pass more often then last season as he is a much better pass blocking center than is Joey Hunt who will likely be his backup. Phil Haynes could supplant Iupati at left guard but it is unknown if Haynes will be physically fit to play after missing much of 2019.

The Seattle Seahawks will see several changes on the defense in 2020 as the defense has struggled the past two seasons. The starting defensive ends are expected to be Everson Griffen and Rasheem Green while the defensive tackles are expected to be Poona Ford and Jarran Reed. Seattle is not expected to re-sign edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney. Because of that, the Seahawks signed Bruce Irvin and have brought back Benson Mayowa.

The starting linebackers for the Seattle Seahawks are expected to be Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright and rookie Jordyn Brooks, who was selected by Seattle with their first pick. Backing up those three and seeing plenty of action will be Cody Barton, Shaquem Griffin and Ben Burr-Kirven. The starting cornerbacks for Seattle are expected to be Quinton Dunbar, Shaquille Griffin and Ugo Amadi at the slot, while Bradley McDougald and Quandre Diggs will start at the safety spots. Trey Flowers will return to a backup role after having a solid but error-filled rookie season.

Seattle is coming off a season in which they were in the race for the NFC West until the final two weeks of the regular season. Although several new faces will dot the starting lineups on offense and defense, Seattle will battle with the Rams and 49ers in the NFC West for playoff berths. As long as Russell Wilson remains healthy under center all season, the Seahawks will reach the postseason with an overall record of 10-6
