Seattle Seahawks - 2019 NFL Season Preview & Predictions

Last Updated: 08/20/2019 at 10:40 AM ET

In case you missed it, the Seattle Seahawks somehow managed to win ten games and reach the postseason in one of the biggest surprises of 2018. QB Russell Wilson is an underappreciated magician, coming off a season in which he threw for 35 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. Doug Baldwin has been Wilson’s most consistent threat in the passing game, but he retired in the offseason.

Head coach Pete Carroll is old school and turned Seattle into a dominant rushing force, leading the league at 160 yards per game. Unheralded RB Chris Carson rushed for 1,157 yards and nine touchdowns, despite running behind a suspect offensive line

The Seattle Seahawks won their only Super Bowl in franchise history behind a defense nicknamed the Legion of Boom. Those days are gone and the Seahawks are now nothing more than a middle of the pack defensive unit. The secondary was torched for 240 yards through the air last season and figure to struggle in that area once again.

To help the secondary, Seattle will have to generate a consistent pass rush. Unfortunately the team traded away top pass rusher Frank Clark to Kansas City. The linebacking group is the clear strength of the defense and is led by MLB Bobby Wagner.

Seattle caught some lightning in a bottle during their postseason run, but that will be hard to replicate. Russell Wilson is outstanding, but his offensive line is not good and his receiving corps has plenty of questions. Look for Seattle to take a step back and fall short of their season win total. Final Season Prediction, Seattle Seahawks Under 8.5 Wins.
