Seahawks at Vikings 8/18/19 - NFL Preseason Picks & Predictions

The Seattle Seahawks are set to visit U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota, Minneapolis for a preseason clash against the Minnesota Vikings. The Seattle Seahawks come into this matchup with a 1-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their first preseason game against the Denver Broncos, 22-14. Paxton Lynch looks like a solid option for the backup QB spot after he connected on 11 of his 15 pass attempts for a total of 109 yards and 1 TD. Jazz Ferguson was one of the top receivers in this game as he had 4 receptions for 54 yards and 1 TD.

The Seattle Seahawks were solid on the defensive side of the ball as they held the Denver Broncos to 2 TDs as well as forced a turnover. Austin Calitro had a big game from the LB spot for the Seattle Seahawks as he had a team-high 6 tackles. Barkevious Mingo has potential to step into a starting spot for the Seahawks and he proved that with 4 tackles and 1 sack against the Broncos. Jamar Taylor had a good game from the secondary for the Seahawks as he contributed an interception. The Minnesota Vikings come into this matchup with a 1-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their first preseason game against the New Orleans Saints, 34-25. Kirk Cousins looked solid in his limited action in this game as he connected on all 4 of his passing attempts for 65 yards and 1 TD. Mike Boone is trying to solidify a backup RB role on the Vikings this season, and he had a solid outing as he ran for 70 yards and 1 TD.

The Minnesota Vikings starting defense should once again be one of the best in the NFL, but the reserves will need to improve after giving up 25 points to the Saints. Cameron Smith led the way for the Minnesota Vikings as he contributed a team-high 7 tackles. Hercules Mata’afa was in the backfield all game for the Vikings as he contributed 1 sack and 2 TFL. Nate Meadors contributed an interception in which he returned 30 yards for a TD.

The Seattle Seahawks have dominated the Minnesota Vikings ATS as of recent as they have won 4 of their last 5 meetings. I am very impressed with backup QB Paxton Lynch as he looked like a new guy for the Seattle Seahawks, and I am intrigued to see if he can find similar success against a suspect Vikings defense. The Minnesota Vikings allowed the New Orleans offense to have a lot of success, and while the Seahawks aren’t as high-powered, they are playing 2 QBs who have starting experience (Smith and Lynch). The Seahawks should be able to go on the road and play solid defense against the Vikings as they most likely won’t give much time to their starters. Final Score Prediction, Seattle Seahawks win, but grab the points 21-20.
