San Francisco 49ers at Houston Texans 8/25/22 - NFL Preseason Picks & Predictions

NRG Stadium will play host to a Thursday night NFL preseason battle between the San Francisco 49ers and the Houston Texans. The 49ers won seven of their final nine regular season games to qualify for the playoffs and lost to Los Angeles in the NFC Championship game. On Saturday, San Francisco outscored Minnesota by 11 points during the fourth quarter of a 17-7 road victory.

San Francisco RB JaMychal Hasty caught the go-ahead touchdown from Nate Sudfield on the first play of the fourth quarter. Robbie Gould added three field goals for the 49ers.

The Houston Texans are coming off consecutive four-win seasons and have turned to head coach Lovie Smith to get things turned around. The Texans will stick with QB Davis Mills, but another dismal season would have them certainly looking for an upgrade. On Friday, Jeff Driskel threw a touchdown pass with 65 seconds remaining to lift Houston to a 24-20 road victory against the Los Angeles Rams.

Mills played the entire first half for Houston and connected with Nico Collins on an 18-yard touchdown strike. Teegan Quitoriano hauled in a six-yad scoring pass from Kyle Allen to give the Texans a 14-6 third quarter lead. Check out all of our NFL picks today.

San Francisco DB Jimmie Ward is dealing with a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable for the season opener. Both teams are undefeated through two games and I would lean with the home team. The stronger play is on the over. Final Score Prediction, San Francisco 49ers win 24-23.
