The Washington Redskins look to have a better season than they did last season after missing the playoffs and finishing with a 7-9 record. The Redskins have cut ties with Kirk Cousins and have brought on Alex Smith to run their offense. Washington will have Kevin Hogan who they traded for from the Browns and Colt McCoy who is making 7 million this season run the offense through preseason.

The Redskins travel to Foxborough on Thursday night to take on the New England Patriots in Week 1 of their preseason campaign. Jay Gruden will be on the hot seat this season with this team and will have the Redskins playing tough football even in Week 1. Washington went 2-2 in their preseason last year after losing 23-3 to the Ravens in their opener. The Redskins expect defensive lineman Daron Payne and WR Josh Doctson to be ready for action before the start of the regular season. The New England Patriots will step into their first live game after losing Superbowl 52 to the Eagles. The Patriots will once again be led by Head Coach Bill Belichick and QB Tom Brady. New England has not been much of a successful preseason team which included going 1-3 last year. The Patriots may also be without running back Sony Michel for the entire preseason due to a knee injury.

The New England Patriots are a -4 favorite for Thursday nights action. Quarterback Brian Hoyer Danny Etling will run the offense for the Patriots this preseason. The Patriots have also brought in wide receiver Eric Decker to give this offense some more options as they have been battling injures and lost WR Cooks to the Rams.

Back the Redskins getting some free points on Thursday. New England will be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season but the Patriots do not invest to much into the preseason. Washington has the better QB options for preseason football and have more position battles right now which helps win these types of football games. Final Score Prediction, the New England Patriots win 24-21 but the Redskins cover.
