Redskins at Jaguars 12/16/18 - NFL Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 08/08/2019 at 6:15 AM ET

The Washington Redskins look to snap a four-game losing streak on Sunday when they visit the New York Giants. Washington lost on Sunday to the New York Giants 40-16. Mark Sanchez started at quarterback for Washington and struggled as he was intercepted twice. Josh Johnson replaced Sanchez in the third quarter and will become the fourth starting quarterback of the season for Washington against the Jaguars on Sunday.

Jacksonville has lost eight of its last nine following a 30-9 loss to the Tennessee Titans last Thursday. The Jaguars gave up a record-tying 99-yard touchdown rush to Tennessee’s Derrick Henry in the loss. Blake Bortles is no longer the starting quarterback and the Jaguars defense at one time considered the best in the NFL is beginning to fall apart. Redskins quarterback Josh Johnson has 195 yards passing one touchdown and one interception. The leading rusher is Adrian Peterson with 872 yards and seven touchdowns. Jordan Reed leads the Redskins in receiving with 558 yards and two touchdowns. Mason Foster leads the Redskins in tackles with 108, while Ryan Kerrigan is the sacks leader with 9.0.

Jaguars quarterback Cody Kessler has thrown for 546 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The leading rusher this season is T.J. Yeldon with 408 yards. Jacksonville’s leading receiver is Dede Westbrook with 53 receptions for 641 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, the Titans leading tackler is Telvin Smith with 111 while Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue are the sacks leaders with 7.0 apiece.

Both teams are cracking at the seams. The Redskins will use their fourth quarterback while the Jaguars are on their second. Jacksonville may have suffered from poor play calling by its head coach, but the Jaguars are light years ahead of the Redskins. Washington will start Josh Johnson under center and the Redskins signal caller could spend more time on the ground than in the pocket. Final Score Prediction, Jacksonville Jaguars win and cover ATS 27-10.
