Rams at Saints 1/20/19 - NFL Picks & Predictions

NFL Championship weekend will kickoff with a clash between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The Rams won 13 games during the regular season and were crowned NFC West Division champions. On Saturday, Los Angeles rushed for 273 yards during a 30-22 home victory versus Dallas. C.J. Anderson rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns for the Rams, who limited the Cowboys to just 50 yards on the ground.

Through sixteen regular season games, Los Angeles ranked second in the league in total offense and scored 32.9 points on average. New Orleans ranked second in the league against the run and allowed 22.1 points per game. The New Orleans Saints have won seven of their nine home games so far this season and are led by veteran QB Drew Brees, who threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 32 touchdowns. On Sunday, New Orleans overcame a 14-point first quarter deficit to score a 20-14 home victory versus Philadelphia. The Saints used an 11 minute, 29 second third-quarter touchdown drive that gave them the lead for good. Michael Thomas hauled in 12 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown on the afternoon.

For the season, New Orleans ranked eighth in the league in total offense and scored at a 31.5 points per game clip. Los Angeles counters with a talented defense that ranked 19th in yards allowed and surrendered 24.0 points on average.

These two teams matched up earlier in the regular season, with the Saints defeating the visiting Rams by a 45-35 final score. On that day, New Orleans limited Los Angeles to just 92 yards on the ground and Michael Thomas went over the 200-yard mark in receiving. Look for a similar outcome on Sunday.
