PIT -3.5 O/U 47
The Steelers are looking to bounce back after what many would consider to be an off year for the Steelers. Granted, Pittsburgh finished at five hundred, but the Steelers could improve on that some this year. For the Giants the team has nowhere to go but up. Last year the Giants only managed to get 4 wins on the year and that was not the best year, but it was far from horrible like the Redskins had and now the Giants are avoiding the quarterback talk as well.
Building off of what was a very bad offense last year the Steelers decided to shore up their wide out position by picking up Chase Claypool from Notre Dame. One player that the Steelers need to return to form and not the limping form that he seemed to be turning into is Ben Roethlisberger. A big loss to the Steelers roster actually comes from an unexpected loss in Roosevelt Nix the fullback who helped block and could clear the way for the running backs.
For the Giants the team needs to improve and it will definitely fall towards the quarterback position with Daniel Jones. Jones has been chomping at the bit for a while to lead the Giants and now that Eli Manning has retired he has his chance. Jones does have a little bit of comfort as the Giants did pick up Andrew Thomas in the first round to help protect him and jump start the running attack. A loss the Giants will have to make up is Cody Latimer who was a decent offensive target. The Giants did manage to land Blake Martinez from the Packers in free agency as well.
With this game the quarterback battle should slant towards the Steelers if Big Ben stays healthy. If Ben is unable to stay healthy the Steelers do have a decent backup, but is not really able to come in and lead the team to the same type of level. The Giants have Jones headlining the team and he is younger, but should be able to start to get the Giants offense going and being a little bit more mobile will definitely help the Giants out quite a bit.
Recent Betting Trends
- The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Pittsburgh's last 8 games.
- Pittsburgh are 4-2 SU in their last 6 games against NY Giants.
- NY Giants are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games.
- The total has gone OVER in 4 of NY Giants' last 5 games.
The Giants are one team that will really look impressive in the future. The Giants have the quarterback to build off of and now have the anchor on the line with Thomas. Look for the Giants defense to play good in this game, but if Big Ben is healthy the Giants will have some issues and that leads to the Giants being unable to contain the Steelers offense and throw in the fact that Pittsburgh still has a great defense and it is easy to see the Steelers win this game and cover. Final Score Prediction, Pittsburgh Steelers win 17-10.
