In 2021, the Philadelphia Eagles finished second in the NFC East with an overall record of 9-8. The Eagles were 3-3 in division play. Philadelphia was eliminated in the Wild Card round of the 2021 NFL postseason after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-15. Expectations are high in Philadelphia this season.
The Eagles offense will be once again run by quarterback Jalen Hurts, who last season passed for 3,144 yards passing, with 16 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, To help their QB’s cause, Philadelphia signed wide receiver AJ Brown from the Tennessee Titans and Brown will line up alongside Devonta Smith. Quez Watkins is another excellent receiver for Philadelphia and Dallas Goebert has become one of the best tight ends in football.
The Eagles have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL and are coming off a season as the top rushing attack in football. Back to lead the way on the ground is Miles Sanders, who last season rushed for 754 yards but played just to 12 games. Hurts was the leading rusher for the Eagles with 784 yards. Devonta Smith was the leading receiver for Philadelphia last season with 916 yards and five touchdowns receptions.
Philadelphia averaged 159.7 yards rushing per game which was first in the NFL and 200.2 yards per game passing which was 25th. Last season Philadelphia allowed an average of 107.9 yards per game rushing and 220.9 yards per game passing. The Eagles scored an average of 26.1 points per game and allowed an average of 22.6 points per game.
Philadelphia will have a solid defensive front four led by Javon Hargrave and Fletcher Cox, while the linebackers will give opposing rushers and passers plenty of problems led by Derek Barnett, Kyzir White and Haason Reddick. Cornerback Darius Slay leads a talented secondary. Playing opposite Slay will be James Bradberry and the two safeties are Marcus Epps and Anthony Harris.
