Philadelphia Eagles - 2019 Season Preview - NFL Picks & Predictions

The Philadelphia Eagles were unable to repeat as Super Bowl Champions last year, but could very well find themselves right back there this season. Fourth year QB Carson Wentz is reportedly at 100 percent and has played at an MVP caliber level in this league. The Eagles are blessed with a talented corps of receiving options for Wentz, including TE Zach Ertz, WR Alshon Jeffrey, and WR Desean Jackson.

Philadelphia has to improve on a running game that averaged just 98 yards per game a season ago. RB Miles Sanders was drafted in the second round and has the potential to be special. Veteran RB Jordan Howard was signed in the offseason to be Philadelphia’s short yardage back.

The Philadelphia defense is coming off a season in which they ranked in the bottom third of the league in yards allowed. The Eagles lost DE Michael Bennett in free agency, but still have one of the best defensive lines in football. Newly acquired DT Malik Jackson will play next to Fletcher Cox to form a fierce inside pressure tandem.

Philadelphia’s secondary was torched early last season, but continued to improve down the stretch. Safeties Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod are locked in as solid starters, while there are positions to be won in training camp at cornerback.
